Sweet and Spicy Tuna Spaghetti


Ingredients:
1 pack (200 g) Knorr Royal Spaghetti, cooked per package directions
1 can (315 g) Filipino Style Spaghetti Sauce
50 g tuna in brine, drained
1 pc onion (small), chopped
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp Knorr Original Liquid Seasoning
1 tsp salt
1 tsp hot sauce (adjust to preferred level of spiciness)
1 tbsp cooking oil


Direction:
1. In a pan, saute garlic and onion. Add tuna, salt, Knorr Liquid Seasoning Original and hot sauce.
2. Pour in spaghetti sauce and stir.
3. Simmer for 2-5 minutes and pour over cooked spaghetti. You can also add mushrooms and serve with grated cheese on top.

Makes 4-6 servings.

Huevo Con Atun (Hard Boiled Eggs with Tuna Stuffing)



Ingredients:
4 pcs hard boiled eggs, shells removed
100 g tuna flakes
4 tbsp mayonnaise
salt and pepper to taste


Directions:
1. Carefully cut the eggs in half horizontally. Set aside. In a bowl, combine tuna flakes, mayonnaise, salt and pepper and blend well. Top the lower part of the cut egg with a spoonful of tuna-mayo mixture and mold to shape like a whole egg.
2. Top with the upper half of the cut egg and chill till ready to serve. Garnish just before serving.

Baked Tuna Macaroni

Ingredients:
3 tbsp olive oil
1/2 head garlic, minced
1 onion, chopped
2 cans tuna chunks or flakes in oil or brine
2 cans tomatoes, peeled and diced
1/2 cup pitted black olives, sliced
1/4 cup capers, halved
2 tbsp white wine
salt and pepper to taste
cooked macaroni noodles
grated cheese


Directions:
1. In a saucepan, heat the oil then saute garlic and onions. Add the tuna.
2. Stir in the tomatoes, olives, capers, and wine. Season to taste. Simmer for a few minutes until sauce turns deep orange.
3. Toss cooked macaroni with the sauce then transfer it to a baking dish. Top with the grated cheese. Bake or microwave until cheese melts.

Try using canned tomatoes that are already flavored with herbs and spices.
Preparation time: 10-20 minutes
Cooking time: 15-25 minutes
Makes 4-6 servings

Breakfast Beans


Ingredients:
1 can (220 g) pork and beans
1/2 cup tuna chunks in brine, drained
6 hamburger buns (or any desired bread)


Directions:
1. Combine pork and beans and tuna. Mix well.
2. Toast bread and spread with tuna-beans mixture. If desired, top with cheese.

Makes 6 servings.
Rich in Niacin - promotes normal digestion and healthy skin.

Tuna Spring Salad


Ingredients:
2 cups green and red seedless grapes
1 cup mandarin orange segments
1/2 cup walnut halves
1 cup pineapple tidbits, drained well
2 (184 g) cans tuna chunks in water, drained
1 cup natural yoghurt
2 tsp lemon juice
1/4 cup honey


Directions:
1. In a large clean bowl, combine first 5 ingredients. Set aside.
2. Mix together yoghurt, lemon and honey. Toss into the salad mixture.
3. Chill well before serving.

Makes 8-10 servings.

Tuna Risotto in White Wine


Ingredients:
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 1/4 cup uncooked rice
1 cup white wine
2 cups chicken stock
1 (184 g) tuna chunks in vegetable oil
1/4 cup corn kernels
1/4 cup red and green bell pepper, sliced
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper
1/4 cup chopped parsley


Directions:
1. Heat olive oil in a large, heavy bottom skillet. Saute onions with rice.
2. Pour in white wine and cook, stirring occasionally until wine is reduced and absorbed by the rice.
3. Add chicken stock and let cook until rice has absorbed the liquid and tender to the bite.
4. Stir in tuna, corn, bell pepper, butter and parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Add parsley and stir before removing from heat. Serve warm.

Tuna Pasta Melt

Ingredients:
200 g elbow macaroni, cooked
6 cloves garlic, crushed
1 can (184 g) tuna chunks in oil, drained (reserve oil)
1 pc large onion, sliced
1 pouch (250 g) Italian Style Spaghetti Sauce
1/2 cup coarsely grated quickmelt cheese

White Sauce:
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp margarine


Directions:
1. Saute garlic in tuna oil until brown. Add onion and cook for 1 minute. Add spaghetti sauce, 1/4 cup water, 1/2 tsp iodized fine salt (or 1/2 tbsp iodized rock salt) and 1/4 tsp pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in tuna. Set aside.
2. White Sauce: Mix first 3 ingredients until smooth. Season with 1/3 tsp iodized fine salt (or 1 tsp iodized rock salt) and 1/4 tsp pepper. Add margarine. Cook over low heat for 5-10 minutes or until thick.
3. Blend spaghetti-tuna sauce with cooked elbow macaroni. Arrange in pan. Pour white sauce all over and sprinkle with grated cheese. If desired, bake until cheese melts.

Makes 6 servings.

Tuna Sisig

Ingredients:
1 small (1/2 kg) puso ng saging (bud or blossom), trimmed and cut lengthwise into 2
1 head garlic, crushed
2 large onions, chopped
1 siling haba (long pepper), sliced
350 g fresh tuna fillet, chopped
1 can (140 g) tomato sauce


Directions:
1. Boil puso ng saging (bud or blossom) in 2 cups water and 1 tsp iodized salt (or 1 tbsp rock salt) for 20 minutes. Drain, discard the hard middle portion, then chop finely. Squeeze to remove excess liquid. Set aside.
2. Saute garlic, onion and sili. Add 3 tbsp soy sauce, puso ng saging, fish and tomato sauce. Cook for 5 minutes while stirring.

Makes 6 servings.
Tuna replaces pork, puso ng saging serves as extender.
Contains no cholesterol or fat - which is good for the heart.

Tuna-Eggplant Spaghetti



Ingredients:
1 pkg (225 g) spaghetti noodles, cooked per package directions
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 medium onion, chopped
2 medium (1/4 kg) eggplant, cut into cubes and soaked in water
1 stalk celery, sliced
1 medium red bell pepper, cut into strips
1 can (385 g) spaghetti sauce, Italian style
1 can (190 g) tuna chunks


Directions:
1. Saute garlic, onions and eggplant. Cook for 5 minutes. Add 3/4 cup water and remaining ingredients except spaghetti noodles. Season with 2 tsp rock salt (or 2/3 tsp iodized salt), 1 tbsp sugar and 1/4 tsp pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
2. Add spaghetti noodles and blend well, or pour sauce over cooked noodles. Top with grated cheese if desired.

Makes 8 servings.

Rich in Vitamin B3 - for healthy skin and digestive system.
Tuna replaces beef.
Eggplant serves as extenders.
